Kimberly J. Powell is the managing family law attorney of Pacific Northwest Family Law’s office in Walla Walla, Washington. She works tirelessly for clients in cases involving divorce, separation, child custody, child support, division of property, relocation, spousal maintenance, and other family law issues. Kimberly is a native of Washington and has dedicated her career to serving families in the community.
Kimberly studied psychology and sociology at the University of Idaho before obtaining her J.D. from Willamette University College of Law. In law school, Kimberly worked for the Oregon Department of Justice Advocacy Section. In this role, she represented the Department of Human Services/Child Welfare and aggressively advocated for children in the foster care system. Since leaving this position, her passion for helping foster children has only grown stronger over the years. Now, she advocates for foster children in juvenile dependency proceedings as a volunteer CASA/Guardian ad Litem for the Benton and Franklin County Juvenile Justice Court. She also protects the best interests of children when representing clients in adoption, child support, and child custody cases.
Kimberly is a proud member of many prestigious legal organizations, including the Washington State Bar Association, Benton County Bar Association, American Bar Association, National Institute for Trial Advocacy and Washington Women Lawyers. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for legal excellence by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys, Super Lawyers, and The National Advocate. These organizations have named her as one of the “Ten Best,” “Rising Stars,” and “Top 40 Attorneys Under 40.” She was also honored with the Avvo “Client’s Choice” award, which is based on client reviews.
Kimberly has also written about family law, co-parenting, child support, and relocation for several publications, including the Walla Walla Union Bulletin, Avvo, and LinkedIn.
At Pacific Northwest Family Law, Kimberly works closely with her clients to help them achieve the results they desire so they can move forward in their lives. In each case, Kimberly promotes resolution rather than conflict. She firmly believes that clients who are able to peacefully resolve their disputes are on the path to a brighter and better future. But she understands that some legal battles are unavoidable, which is why she is always prepared to fight to protect her clients’ best interests in court.
