Build a Serious Family Law Practice in Walla Walla
You know how to handle legal work. You have managed cases, advised clients, drafted motions, negotiated difficult issues, and appeared in court. Now you need a firm that gives you room to develop without leaving you unsupported.
This position is for a family law attorney who can manage a caseload with increasing independence while still benefiting from experienced colleagues, established systems, and strong legal and administrative support.
Our attorneys focus on practicing law: developing case strategy, advising clients, drafting and reviewing legal documents, negotiating resolutions, preparing for trial, and appearing in court. They are not expected to spend their days screening leads, conducting routine intake consultations, or pursuing client payments. Intake, administrative, and legal-support teams handle that infrastructure so attorneys can concentrate on their cases and clients.
What You Will Do
You will manage a family law caseload with support from legal assistants and attorneys throughout the firm.
Your work will include:
- Developing case strategy and advising clients
- Drafting pleadings, motions, declarations, and settlement documents
- Conducting and responding to discovery
- Negotiating resolutions
- Preparing clients and witnesses for hearings and trial
- Appearing at hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Managing deadlines and maintaining consistent client communication
- Working with experienced attorneys on complex or high-conflict matters
- Using established firm systems to manage cases efficiently
- Taking on greater responsibility as your skills and judgment develop
This is not an entry-level training position, but you will not be expected to practice in isolation. Experienced attorneys are available for strategy, feedback, and support when a case requires it.
What We Are Looking For
Applicants must be active members in good standing of the Washington State Bar Association.
The strongest candidates will have:
- Approximately three to seven years of legal experience
- Meaningful family law or civil litigation experience
- The ability to manage cases with limited supervision
- Courtroom, hearing, or trial experience
- Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills
- Sound judgment in emotionally difficult matters
- Consistent and professional client communication
- Personal accountability and responsiveness
- A willingness to learn and use established firm systems
- An interest in building a long-term legal career in Walla Walla
Substantial family law experience is preferred. Attorneys with strong litigation experience in another practice area may also be considered if they have courtroom experience and a serious interest in family law.
Spanish-language ability is useful but not required.
Compensation and Expectations
The base-salary range for this position is:
$105,000–$135,000 per year
Placement within the range will depend on family law experience, litigation and trial experience, demonstrated ability to manage cases, professional judgment, and readiness to work independently.
Attorneys are expected to complete 1,500 credited hours annually. Up to 100 hours of approved pro bono work may count toward that requirement.
Additional performance-based compensation is available for collected attorney revenue attributable to work above 1,500 credited hours annually.
This position also includes:
- Reimbursement of reasonable relocation expenses up to $5,000
- A $2,500 retention bonus after six months
- A second $2,500 retention bonus after nine months
- A third $2,500 retention bonus after twelve months
Retention-bonus eligibility requires the attorney to be actively employed and in good standing on each payment date.
Time Away From Work
Attorneys manage their own schedules rather than requesting vacation and holidays in the traditional manner. They may schedule time away as needed, provided client obligations, court deadlines, and the annual credited-hour requirement are met.
Benefits
Benefits include:
- Medical insurance
- Dental insurance
- Vision insurance
- Retirement benefits
- Payment of Washington State Bar dues
- Prepaid, unlimited continuing legal education through NBI
- Attorney mentorship and case-strategy support
- Partnership-track opportunity
- Opportunities for increased responsibility and leadership
